DAS at the Jordan’s Stadiums

When Jordan won the bid to host the 2016 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, the first female world cup in the region, it quickly had to bring the country’s stadiums up to speed to meet FIFA’s regulations for AV equipment. To meet the challenge, DAS Audio professional sound systems were deployed in three of the Jordan’s stadiums: the Amman International and King Abdullah II stadiums in the country’s capital, Amman, and the Al Hasan stadium in the city of Irbid.

International New Technical Est. (INTE), a locally based company was contracted to coordinate the installation of the new sound systems for all three stadiums. INTE worked hand in hand with DAS Audio’s Sound Projects Department to design a curated sound solution fully tailored to each individual venue with systems based on DAS Audio HQ Series loudspeakers.

At Amman International Stadium, a 25,000-seat venue located in the Jordanian capital, INTE technicians with Haitham Nazzal at the helm installed a total of 10 HQ-112.95CX systems to cover the main bleachers. An additional 12 HQ-112.43CX systems and two HQ-112.64CX systems were rolled out to cover the remaining bleachers. The CX versions are protected with a thick ISO-flex coating for a “covered exposure” rating that guarantees protection from harsh weather conditions. DAS Audio D-10 and D-20 amplifiers were brought in to power these units, while two DAS Audio DSP-2060A digital signal processors manage and control the signal for the entire set up.

The INTE technicians deployed a PA system based on a total of 11 HQ-112.95CX units to cover the main bleachers at the 18,000-seat King Abdullah II Stadium, also located in Amman. These systems were augmented with 12 HQ-112.43CX systems and a pair of HQ-112.64CX systems to provide flawless sound for every other seat in the house. DAS Audio’s D-20 and D-10 systems power the system at this stadium as well, with DAS DSP-2060A digital signal processors tasked with managing the entire system.

The Al Hasan Stadium in Irbid, with seating for 15,000 spectators, was fitted out with an equally impressive set-up. Specifically, six HQ-112.95CX were installed to cover the main bleachers, while 12 HQ-112.43CX systems cover the sound for the rest of the venue. DSP was once again delivered by D.A.S. D-20 and D-10 amps and a DSP-2060A processor handles the systems.
