The drive-in cinema with the largest screen in Europe

Cinemacar: movies, music and leisure activities with DAS Audio systems

Featuring a choice of DAS Audio systems for top quality sound, the drive-in cinema with the largest screen in Europe offers a leisure and entertainment concept in line with the “new normal”.

On June 11, Cinemacar opened in Alicante´s Rabasa multispace, a venue with 45,000 square meters and capacity for 500 cars. The drive-in cinema delivers not only a cinematic experience, but also culture, live music, gastronomy and leisure activities; an original entertainment offer suited to the new times.

Addressing the needs of this new project where sound plays a fundamental role, the company Oxigen Sonido e Iluminación opted for the installation of DAS Audio´s Aero, UX, Artec and Arco systems in different areas of the venue. In the main parking area, the PA includes twelve Aero-20A systems, four UX-218A subwoofers, four Artec-508 for front fill and four Aero-20A for delay, delivering consistent audio coverage, power and intelligibility for both the screenings and the gigs held on the stage under the big screen, which help create a festival-like atmosphere.

The sound, which can also be tuned through the vehicle radio, is present in the outdoor terraces, in the Garden (at the front row) and the premium boxes thanks to the latest generation of DAS Audio systems. For these areas in particular, smaller-size weather-resistant systems with clear and defined sound were required.  For this, sixteen Arco-24T with factory installed multi-tap transformers were fitted in each premium box and thirty-two Arco-24 were fitted in the VIP area with two IA-1002 and four IA-1004 amplifiers. A DASnet Rack99 with a DSP2060A is also on site for power, signal and data distribution.

For Tamas Gyuros, Head of Oxigen, “The setup was rather challenging in the sense of having to provide coverage for the entire parking area without disturbing the restaurant and VIP zones, as each space use their own systems. Also, we paid special attention when setting the delays from the PA to the VIP area, which was about 160m, but thanks to DASnet, the system was finely tuned and we have control over all the different areas”.

After the inauguration, this new project has received a largely positive response. “This is a totally new experience in our sector and despite the responsibility it entails, thanks to DAS Audio systems, the result has been very good”, concludes Tamas .
