For decades, Hope Lutheran Church has been a pillar of the Palm Desert community; offering powerful messages, beautiful music, and a welcoming space for worship. But like many churches with aging audio infrastructure, they were facing challenges that impacted both experience and engagement. The sound was harsh in some seats, muddy in others, and even the choir had trouble hearing themselves.
Enter Maverick Productions and DAS Audio.
With two very different worship spaces and very specific sonic needs, Hope Lutheran needed a solution that was powerful, but not overwhelming and immersive, but not invasive. The goal wasn’t volume—it was warmth, clarity, and coverage that reached every corner of the room without disrupting the architectural beauty of the space.
Integrator Jonathan Lein of Maverick Productions understood the assignment. “They weren’t looking for a concert experience,” he said. “They were looking for connection—sound that feels good. That’s exactly where DAS shines.”
Working closely with the church, Maverick deployed a tailored solution using 24 EVENT-26A loudspeakers in three clusters, plus two EVENT-115A subwoofers and ARTEC-308s for the overflow space. The install took six weeks—not because of the gear, but because the team meticulously reinforced the ceilings, hid every cable, and even disassembled and custom-painted each speaker to disappear into the space.
The result? A system that blends in beautifully that boasts a 2.1 dB variance across the entire sanctuary; and a 50-person choir that no longer needs floor wedges or earplugs. “It’s a game-changer,” said Pastor Rick Bailard. “The difference has been nothing short of remarkable.”
For the more contemporary Hope Center, a casual, multi-use space that’s evolved into a Sunday service venue, the approach was completely different. This room needed impact. It needed energy. With 12 EVENT-208As and two EVENT-218A subwoofers, DAS delivered just that. The system was installed in a week, and it’s been running since December without a single call for support.
“You want to feel it in your chest,” Lein said. “That was the goal…and we hit it. The mapping, the warmth, the price-to-performance ratio… DAS just nailed it.”
Even better? The system is so intuitive, even non-technical staff have been able to run it with confidence. With audio engineers and pastors alike singing its praises, word has already started to spread about the clarity of DAS Audio systems.
Lein has been a DAS believer since 2013. After side-by-side demos with other major brands, he made the switch and hasn’t looked back. “It’s the best box you’ve never heard of and we’re ready to change that,” he says. “DAS is warm, it’s reliable, and it’s personal. You’re not calling a corporate hot line, you’re talking to real people who care.”
For houses of worship, clarity matters. Connection matters. And when it comes to sound, DAS Audio is helping churches like Hope Lutheran deliver both—one room, one song, one sermon at a time.
