Oktoberfest Austria 2016

The name says it all. Austria’s biggest Oktoberfest recently hit the city of Graz with four days of copious amounts of music, fun and, of course, beer. The festival drew in over 10,000 fans to Graz’s Schwarzlsee recreational area, where DAS Audio professional sound systems were on hand to provide flawless sound for this blowout event.

Event organizers contracted Austrian company GETEC Eventtechnik GmbH to design a sound system for the Schwarzlsee’s 12,000 m² covered festival grounds. GETEC Eventtechnik GmbH teamed up with K24 Technik & Vertrieb GmbH, DAS Audio’s official distributor in Austria, for system supply and set up. Faced with the challenge of creating a solution that could provide superb sound for the stage and audience area as well as meet the different needs of each portion of the show, the sound technicians opted to deploy a system drawn from DAS Audio’s Aero Series 2 range of products.

The GETEC team, with Jakob Gailhofer at the helm, decided that DAS Aero-40A ALAS™ (Advanced Line Array System) would be the perfect fit for this year’s Oktoberfest. A total of 18 of these cutting-edge systems were deployed in two hangs with nine cabinets each on opposite sides of the stage in a classic left-right configuration. This main PA was paired with 12 high-performance DAS LX-218CA subwoofers, groundstacked in front of the stage for the must-have low-frequency punch.

Side fill duties were filled by two hangs of four powered DAS Aero-12A line array systems, set up at just the right angles to ensure solid coverage on either side of the venue. The team also rolled out four powered DAS Event-210A line arrays for front fill, ensuring flawless sound for the festival’s down-in-front fans.

Graz’s massive Oktoberfest 2016 celebration was held at the same venue as Austria’s largest annual electronic music event, the Lake Festival. GETEC Eventtechnik GmbH also designed the sound at recent editions of this can’t-miss EDM event, once again relying on the robust and high-end performance of DAS Aero Series 2 systems.
