OLIGARK ISTANBUL, A UNIQUE EXPERIENCE IN THE BOSOPHROOM WITH DAS AUDIO

Melomani was at the helm of the spectacular installation at Oligark Istanbul, a massive complex that offers 5 restaurants, 2 bars and a spectacular night club

As one of the biggest tourist hotspots in Istanbul, the Bosporus is home to an extensive range of restaurants and entertainment venues. And one of the most exclusive spots in the city is the spectacular Oligark Istanbul.

Surrounded by luxury hotels, residential areas, and outstanding views of the Bosporus, Oligark offers a premium experience in one of the city’s most exclusive locations. One of the major challenges in designing a sound solution for a complex like this was being able to manage the noise pollution from outside while delivering a night club experience both inside and on the terrace. “We’re thrilled with the result”, says Hasan Dündar, owner of Melomani. “We have managed to offer about 95dB inside and on the venue’s terrace and reduce the outside noise by up to 75dB at about 20 meters (22 yards)”.

DAS Audio’s extensive catalogue of sound solutions makes it easy to create different experiences in a 5,000 m2 venue that has capacity for some 3,000 people.

Ambient music in the restaurants is provided by 12 CL-8T systems installed in the ceiling. To round out the coverage, four ACTION-8 systems were installed in the corners of the space. These passive systems have DAS PA Series amplifiers, which were supplemented by three QUANTUM-10A subwoofers to reinforce low-frequency sound.

As for the interior night club, where greater sound pressure is required, a total of twelve VANTEC-12A systems plus four ACTION-8A systems were brought in, supplement with VANTEC-18A and QUANTUM-10A systems for that low-frequency punch.

To complete the system, a veritable army of ARTEC 500 and QUANTUM systems were installed on the terrace: 26 ARTEC-508, 16 ARTEC-510 and eight QUANTUM-43T units, plus 16 QUANTUM-10 subwoofers. The power supply is provided by 14 IA Series DAS Audio amplifiers, and the installation is controlled by six DAS DSP-226 digital signal processors.

“The main objective was to achieve high sound quality, maximizing the pressure on the terrace and minimizing noise pollution outside the club”, said Álvaro Plumed, Applications Engineer at DAS Audio. “To that end, ARTEC 500 systems were strategically directed to achieve uniform pressure with high levels of attenuation outside the venue. The distribution of the subwoofers managed to maintain the sound and pressure quality required throughout the club, without reaching the high overall pressure levels that would affect neighboring homes”.

“Both we and the owners of the premises are honestly really happy with the result”, said Hasan Dündar, who headed the sound system installation. “The help from the DAS Audio engineering department was central to the installation’s success, and they participated both in recommending the systems and Its configuration, as well as the support they offered during set-up”.
