Vivo Electronics, established in 2000, is a Chinese tech company that designs, develops, and manufactures smartphones, smartphone accessories, software, and online services. The brand focuses on providing high quality audio experiences for users by continually introducing groundbreaking products like its newest smartphone, the Vivo Xplay 5. The brand pulled out all the stops for the big product reveal at the Water Cube, Beijing’s Olympic swimming facility, which was fitted out with a veritable army of DAS professional sound systems for this epic event.

To bring the product launch to life Vivo worked with event organizers Auditoire Agency, who called up an international team of professionals for Xplay 5’s official release, including video content by French company Superbien, a performance by Russia’s Flexx Ballet, and AV and lighting by Shanghai-based Neuro Tech Asia, a strategic partner of Chao GanGuan, DAS Audio’s exclusive distributor in China. Chao GanGuan’s technical director German Rodriguez was also on hand to provide tech support for system design and on-site setup.

The massive X-shaped stage at the Water Cube posed a unique challenge for the sound technicians, who needed to design a system that could provide outstanding audio performance without detracting from the stage’s visual impact. After studying the venue’s specific requirements, Neuro Tech Asia opted to deploy systems based on its recently purchased Aero Series 2 line of products. Designed to offer increased power handling and reduced distortion, these compact systems were guaranteed to leave the audience a clear line of sight to the stage.

A total of 20 cutting-edge Aero-40A ALAS™ (Advanced Line Array Systems) were flown as the house mains, providing a no-hassle yet robust solution enhanced by 12 of the compact and versatile Aero-20A line arrays. These high-performance systems were matched by 12 LX-218CA.net powered subwoofers, groundstacked in front of the stage for exceptional low-frequency punch.

To ensure superb sound for every seat in the house the technicians brought in 16 Vantec-12A compact multi-purpose systems for side fill. The sound solution designed for the Vivo launch also featured four DASnet™ racks to remotely control and manage the systems. To help manage the audio signal these racks were complemented by two DAS DSP-4080 and two DSP-2060A signal processors.

The official launch of the Vivo Xplay 5 was a resounding success, thanks in no small part to the DAS Audio systems rolled out for the event. Providing excellent speech intelligibility and music reproduction capabilities as well as even dispersion throughout the room, Neuro Tech Asia and Chao GanGuan once again proved that DAS Audio professional sound systems are just the ticket for a wide range of cultural and entertainment applications throughout Asia.
